As It Ought to Be is a progressive forum which hopes to encourage humane thought and action related to contemporary political and cultural matters. We’re always interested in adding to our stellar body of regular contributors and also frequently feature guest columnists.

Work that has originally appeared in AIOTB has been reprinted in such venues as the Boston GlobeCounterpunchHuffington Post, The Good Men Project, and has been listed as a “notable essay” in Best American Essays 2015 . We welcome reprint inquiries and are always excited to see an extended reach of the talent and thoughtfulness of our contributors. There is no charge for reprints, all we ask is that AIOTB is credited as the original publisher with a hyperlink (when possible) back to the post at our site.

I find myself growing increasingly frustrated with this perpetual cycle of violent rhetoric that we find ourselves in during this sad times. Thus in light of these recent attacks in Paris and with your permission I would very much like to share this poem I wrote with you and your friends. With sincere gratitude, Nick.

Just read Janet Kircheimer here. Love it. And, coincidentally I posted on FB recently a photo of Best American Poetry while at the beach on a rainy day – and Kircheimer’s work is in that too! Check out my FB page to see the photo. Love those convergences. Joy
